As a dedicated dental hygienist and clinical instructor, I am deeply committed to advancing our profession and ensuring that dental hygienists have a strong, forward-thinking voice in shaping the future of oral health care in British Columbia. Serving on the BCDHA Board would allow me to contribute meaningfully to the strategic leadership and advocacy that support our members and strengthen the profession.

Through my clinical experience, I have developed a clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges dental hygienists face in practice. This perspective allows me to approach governance decisions with both practical insight and a focus on the broader impact on patient care, professional autonomy, and the long-term sustainability of our field. I believe effective leadership within a professional association requires thoughtful listening, collaborative problem-solving, and the ability to balance diverse perspectives while remaining focused on shared goals.

I am particularly aligned with the BCDHA’s Policy Governance® model, which emphasizes strategic oversight, principled decision-making, and clear boundaries between governance and operations. I value this framework because it supports responsible leadership and ensures that the Board remains focused on long-term outcomes for the profession and its members.

My leadership style is grounded in integrity, accountability, and respect. I contribute constructively to discussions, welcome diverse viewpoints, and approach decision-making with careful consideration and sound judgment. At the same time, I recognize the importance of unity and professionalism in governance, including respecting confidentiality and supporting Board decisions once they are made.

I am fully prepared to commit the time, energy, and dedication required to serve effectively as a Board Director. Most importantly, I am motivated by a genuine passion for advocating for dental hygienists and helping guide our profession toward a strong, innovative, and sustainable future.
