On April 13, BCDHA was invited to meet with NDP Leader, Jagmeet Singh, about the proposed federal dental plan.
BCDHA’s policy analyst, Mystica Lopez de Leon, along with the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association‘s Donna Wells, UBC‘s Dr. Kavita Mathu-Muju, the Council of Senior Citizens’ Organizations of BC‘s president Leslie Gaudette, and Pearl Boutique Dental Hygiene‘s Emma Johnson, spoke about the impact of poor oral health and the contribution of dental hygienists in the prevention of oral disease and maintenance of health.
BCDHA looks forward to this phased expansion of Canada’s public health care system to support our most vulnerable children and seniors against oral-related pain and suffering.
Eventually, equitable access to preventative oral care services should be extended to all Canadians.
Oral health has always been a part of overall health.
We are glad that our federal leaders are recognizing this, and are proud of the many voices that continue to advocate to improve the health of Canadians.
