Hello everyone!  

My name is Jas Chahal and I am BCDHA’s new JEDI! This may sound like Star Wars, but it’s an acronym for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.  

The BCDHA has established this position to reinforce its commitment to creating and fostering a profession that reflects and contributes to the diverse communities in which we live, work, and play.  

 Some of my goals for this position are: 

• To reinforce an inclusive culture and foster the principles of JEDI that the BCDHA is committed to. 
• Developing plans to promote cultural safety and humility, learning, and unlearning among our profession. 
• Collaborating with other health care professions to further the goals of Anti-Stigma in healthcare, particularly with marginalized populations. 
• Creating opportunities for engagement, education, and discussion of issues related to Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. 

I’m looking forward to collaborating and learning/unlearning along with all of our members!
