The BCDHA and CDA Alliance Committee for Accessibility in Oral Health is seeking members who are passionate about improving the experiences and outcomes for patients and clients who struggle to access proper oral care because of the reluctance of dental clinics to manage complex physical or behavioural challenges.

This is a challenge that we believe would benefit from the expertise, input, and lived experiences of Dental Hygienists, Dental Therapists, and Certified Dental Assistants who have an interest in providing solution-oriented advice and policy direction.

The BCDHA and CDA Alliance Committee for Accessibility in Oral Health recognizes, and is sensitive to, the importance of compassionate language in this area and will encourage committee members to come together to identify and define accurate and inclusive terminology as part of their work.

 

We seek practitioners who represent various practice types, levels of experience, and geographic locations to participate in this committee. 

Qualifications 

Seeking Applicants with the following qualifications:   

• You have demonstrated lived experience caring for individuals with disabilities: defined as physical, mental or developmental that may or may not be visible or permanent; and/or you are an oral health professional who works closely with this unique population and have a passion for improving their overall health and well-being.
• Must be a Registered Dental Hygienist, Independent Dental Hygiene Practitioner, Certified Dental Assistant, or Dental Therapist who is a member of the BCDHA or CDA Alliance.
• Must have the time, desire, and personal commitment to fill this position.  

Your Commitment:   

Meetings will be on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm for 1-2 hours via teams.

The first meeting will be arranged by doodle poll after the committee members are selected. We anticipate the committee will continue to meet for the 2022/2023 calendar year. Committee members are volunteers and will not receive financial compensation.  

Our commitment to you:

Afifa Eidher, Operations, and Special Projects Lead, will help to coordinate meeting preparation and administrative tasks.
