Margit graduated from the College of New Caledonia (CNC) in 1990 and went on to complete a Bachelor of Dental Science in Dental Hygiene at the University of British Columba and a Master of Health Studies at Athabasca University. Her career began in private practice and part-time with a periodontist. Margit then became a full-time educator at CNC, where she taught for many years before taking a teaching position at Camosun College in Victoria, BC. There Margit continues her passion for laying a good foundation for dental hygiene students and introducing them to the dental hygiene culture.
Margit has been a member of the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association (CDHA) and the British Columbia Dental Hygienist’s Association (BCDHA), her entire career. Margit was a BCDHA board director for eight years, four of which she served as Chair. Margit has worked with the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board (NDHCB) and the College of Dental Hygienists of British Columbia (CDHBC), and as an author for modules commissioned by the Special Olympics. She continues to pursue her interests to be a better dental hygienist and assist in moving the dental hygiene profession forward.
Margit enjoys walking along the West Bay walkway and strolling the streets of downtown Victoria. She likes taking advantage of the many restaurants, spending time with friends, family and her two cuddly cats.
