The British Columbia Dental Hygienists’ Association (BCDHA) is proud to share that our partnership with the Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC (NNPBC) has been recognized by the Office of the Seniors Advocate in the latest Seniors Advocate Newsletter. Together, we are advocating for the inclusion of dental hygienists into long-term care (LTC) facilities as essential members of the healthcare team.
Our goal is clear: to include dental hygienists in LTC settings, working alongside nurses, and other allied health care professionals, to provide specialized oral care for residents. While nurses deliver critical day-to-day care, comprehensive oral care requires the unique expertise of dental hygienists. This collaboration aims to improve the overall health and quality of life for seniors in LTC homes across British Columbia.
BCDHA and NNPBC remain committed to working together to ensure seniors in LTC receive accessible, high-quality oral health support.
