Board of Directors Nominations
Applications are now being accepted for positions on the BCDHA Board of Directors.
If you are passionate about advocating for dental hygienists and helping shape the future of the profession, we encourage you to consider serving on the Board.
The BCDHA Board uses Policy Governance® as its model for organizational governance. This framework defines and guides appropriate relationships between the Association’s Owners/Members, the Board of Directors, and the Executive Director. It supports principled decision-making and long-term, big-picture thinking in achieving the Association’s objectives.
Serving on the Board comes with significant responsibilities. As a Board Director, you are expected to:

Demonstrate dedication to service and act in the best interests of the Association and the profession.

Learn and understand Board policies and procedures and commit to abiding by them.

Contribute innovative ideas and forward-thinking strategies to advance the profession.

Respect the distinction between Board and Executive Director roles and responsibilities.

Participate constructively in deliberations while respecting differing viewpoints.

Honour Board decisions once made.

Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound, objective judgement.

Uphold professional conduct and decorum in all Board matters.

Engage in leadership opportunities, including serving on or chairing committees (additional time commitment).

Prepare for and attend four 2-day meetings per year. Additional special meetings may be required. (Board meetings are currently held virtually.)

Commit to fulfilling a three-year term of office.
