Oral cancer screening provides an important opportunity for healthcare professionals to recognize concerning changes and support earlier assessment and intervention. Co-presented by the British Columbia Dental Hygienists’ Association (BCDHA) and Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of British Columbia (NNPBC), this webinar will explore the role of oral cancer screening and the clinical considerations involved in identifying potentially malignant lesions.
Presented by Dr. Denise Laronde, PhD, DH(c), this session will review the components of an oral cancer screening examination, discuss the use and limitations of adjunctive screening devices, and explore clinical risk factors associated with potentially malignant lesions. The presentation will provide practical information relevant to both dental hygienists and nursing professionals and support greater awareness of oral cancer and collaboration to improve patient outcomes across healthcare settings.
