Barbara Heisterman Innovation Award
The BCDHA is calling for nominations for the Barbara J. Heisterman Award for Outstanding Innovation and Commitment to Care. This award is given annually to a Registered Dental Hygienist who best exemplifies the outstanding and unique attributes and values of Barbara J. Heisterman. The recipient of the award will be chosen based on the criteria below.
Criteria
The successful recipient meets some or all of the following criteria:
- Improves access to dental hygiene care
- Delivers innovative services
- Pioneers new ideas
- Mentors other dental hygienists
- Practices collaboratively
- Advocates for inclusivity for all persons regardless of age, physical or cognitive ability, economic status, culture or race
- Demonstrates commitment to membership in BCDHA
The recipient must be a Registered Dental Hygienist; an active dental hygiene practitioner and a member of BCDHA and/or CDHA for the previous 10 years.
If you would like to nominate a dental hygienist, please complete the form below and return to the BCDHA office before December 31. Note that current Board Directors and BCDHA staff members cannot be nominated and cannot nominate a member for this award.
About Barbara Heisterman
This award was created in honour of Barbara Heisterman, BC’s first mobile residential care dental hygienist. Barbara made an enormous contribution to the profession over her thirty-five-year career as a dental hygienist. Her courage, advocacy, mentorship, and commitment to improving access to dental hygiene care has had a long-lasting impact our profession and will be recognized for years to come.
