Your input is vital to ensure Dental Hygiene is treated equitably
The BC College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP) is currently seeking feedback on the proposed bylaws under the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA). These bylaws will directly shape how dental hygienists practice and are governed in BC — making your voice an essential part of this process.
For your reference, BCDHA has shared written recommendations following our three member presentations on the proposed bylaws. You can review them here:
We strongly encourage all members to review the proposed bylaws and submit individual feedback to BCCOHP before the deadline of October 31, 2025.
How to Provide Feedback
- Visit the BCCOHP consultation page:
https://oralhealthbc.ca/about/health-professions-and-occupations-act/#consultation - Select the bylaw you want to respond to and scroll down to the “Provide Feedback” section.
- You can choose to submit comments on any or all parts of the proposed bylaws.
- When you’re finished, click Submit Feedback at the bottom of the form.
- Using Bylaw 2 as an example: if you wish to provide feedback, select Section 2, which corresponds to that bylaw, then enter your comments in the text box labeled “Provide Feedback Here.” Once complete, click submit to send your response.
BCCOHP is prioritizing feedback from individual registrants which makes your professional insights vital to ensuring the realities and needs of dental hygienists in BC is heard. This may be the only opportunity for our profession to have a say to ensure dental hygiene is treated equitably under amalgamation and respected as a proud autonomous oral health profession.
Thank you for taking the time to review the materials and make your voice heard.
