BCDHA Advocacy in Action: Changes to the QAP Exam

Jan 14, 2025

The BCCOHP has announced that the Quality Assurance Assessment (QAP Exam) for Dental Hygienists will no longer require a minimum score to pass. This means that all dental hygienists who complete the assessment for license renewal in 2025 will receive a successful score; results will continue to inform individual learning plans for the QA cycle. As a result, the professional performance assessment follow-up process that previously followed two unsuccessful attempts has been eliminated.
BCDHA has been advocating for changes to the QAP Assessment on behalf of our members since 2021 and views this announcement as a significant “win” for our profession. BCDHA will continue to provide support and direction to our members as we continue our advocacy efforts toward parity among all oral health professions in terms of QA standards. Your membership in the BCDHA makes these efforts possible. Thank you for your continued support!
