Call out for BCDHA Canadian Products Research Ad Hoc Committee Members

With the recent imposition of tariffs by the US government and the threat to Canadian sovereignty from President Donald Trump, members have expressed a desire to “buy Canadian”. BCDHA is supporting this endeavour by establishing an ad hoc committee to identify Canadian made or produced oral health care products relevant to dental hygiene practice, and to compile this information into a resource for use by BCDHA members.

Shining a Spotlight on Canadian-Made Oral Health Products

Purpose

The Canadian Products Research Ad Hoc Committee is a special ad hoc committee established by within BCDHA dedicated to:

Identifying, promoting, and educating members about Canadian-made or produced products relevant to dental hygienists and their clients.
Creating a resource for BCDHA members within 3-4 months to expand the use and help share and recommend Canadian-made oral health care products to clients.
Supporting businesses that manufacture in Canada and employ Canadians.

Qualifications

Enthusiastic BCDHA members who wish to contribute to this important project. We seek dental hygienists from various practice types, levels of experience, and locations in BC to participate on this committee. Those interested should be comfortable with online research and using virtual platforms such as Teams or Zoom.

Commitment

Committee members are expected to work both collaboratively and independently and must have the time, desire and personal dedication to fill this position. Meetings will be held once or twice per month, typically on Tuesday evenings beginning at 6 pm (PT). Each meeting will be scheduled for 90- 60-90 minutes and will be held virtually. Committee members should also be prepared to collaborate and meet outside of scheduled BCDHA-led meetings as needed.

The Committee will continue its work until the project is completed, which is anticipated to be 3-4 months. Committee members are volunteers and will not receive financial compensation.
