Dysbiotic biofilms fuel diseases within and outside of the oral cavity.  Novel technology and compelling scientific evidence incorporating Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) warrants careful understanding of how this system of biofilm management benefits the patient, the practice and the clinician. GBT requires a shift in traditional technologies and methods for managing biofilm, but the patient and clinician benefit from easy, gentle, and effective methods of biofilm removal from implants, periodontal pockets, exposed root surfaces and delicate restorative materials.  This course creates a compelling case for minimally invasive management of dysbiotic biofilms around implants and teeth with an approach that provides substantial ergonomic benefits for clinicians and is preferred by patients opposed to traditional methods.

Objectives

  • Appraise evidence surrounding pathogenic biofilms as a direct and indirect promoter of chronic diseases
  • Recognize mounting scientific evidence in support of Guided Biofilm Therapy opposed to traditional approaches
  • Appraise vast clinical and practice benefits of managing dysbiotic biofilms with the synergy of air, powder and water
