 

In Real Talk Part Two, participants will take what they learned from part one and apply it to learning how to respond to disclosures of domestic abuse. Participants will learn how to empathize with the person experiencing the abuse and the nuances to what they need for support, learn what supportive responses and questions can be helpful in personal and professional settings. Participants will be able to practice different responses and learn how to refer people to supportive resources.
Presenter / Speaker Bio
Carolyn Mitchell is the Innovation coordinator with Sagesse, an organization with 35 years of experience of empowering individuals, organizations, and communities to disrupt structures of domestic abuse. For the past five years at Sagesse, she has facilitated numerous conversations around domestic abuse, where she enjoys connecting with people across the province and reducing the stigma around domestic abuse through education. Carolyn intentionally curates environments where participants will feel comfortable leaning into discomfort and facing uncomfortable conversations about domestic abuse. Through Real Talk, she encourages people in communities to get real by building their understanding of domestic abuse and increasing their confidence to respond to disclosures.
