National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Sep 30, 2025

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour Survivors, their families, and the children who never returned home from residential schools.

This year also marks 10 years since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission released its 94 Calls to Action. While progress has been made, much work remains to ensure reconciliation is more than words.

At BCDHA, we affirm our ongoing commitment to reconciliation. We recognize the importance of learning, reflection, and action in building culturally safe spaces for all.

Earlier this month, we shared resources and learning opportunities for Truth and Reconciliation Week, including daily webinars and recommended reading. We encourage members to revisit these resources, and to take time today to reflect, listen, and learn. Whether through reading the Calls to Action or engaging with Indigenous voices, every effort helps move us closer to meaningful reconciliation.

We stand with Indigenous communities, acknowledging the painful truths of the past and working toward a more equitable future. The path forward is long, but every step matters.
