Advancing equity, inclusion, and respect

Current and long-standing discrimination, racism, and stigma are systemic in our society and remain present within many institutions. Recent social and political events have further highlighted the deep roots of discrimination, oppression, stigma, and prejudice based on race, ethnicity, class, gender identity, sexual orientation, mental health, disability, and cultural identity.

Tragic events in Canada, the United States, and around the world have prompted important conversations about systemic racism and the structures of privilege that allow inequity to continue. BCDHA condemns racial injustice and mourns the lives lost unfairly due to racism and stigma, including missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

BCDHA unequivocally condemns racism, oppression, stigma, and discrimination in all forms. We stand in solidarity with those who experience inequity and exclusion.

We remain committed to advancing meaningful change and fostering an inclusive association and profession — with intention, purpose, and the support of our members and community.
