Cerina Marshall

BCDHA Board of Director Elections (Director-at-Large)

I respectfully acknowledge that I live on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Katzie and Kwantlen First Nations, where I have the privilege to reside and raise my family. I also recognize and honour the lands where dental hygienists across British Columbia live and serve, and the enduring connection of Indigenous peoples to these territories.

It has been a true privilege to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors for the BC Dental Hygienists’ Association (2025–2026), following my term as Vice Chair in 2024–2025. These leadership roles have given me valuable insight into the Board’s responsibilities, decision-making processes, and the advocacy needed to move our profession forward.

For the past 17 years, I have worked as a clinical dental hygienist in both community and private practice settings. This experience has shaped who I am as a professional and as a leader. Remaining a grassroots clinician keeps me closely connected to the realities of daily practice — the challenges we face, the changes within our profession, and the opportunities that lie ahead. It also allows me to bring the voices and perspectives of practicing hygienists directly to the Board table.

Serving on the Board has reinforced my commitment to supporting our members and strengthening our profession. Continuing in this role would allow me to provide important continuity, while also supporting and mentoring new Directors as they step into leadership roles. I believe strong leadership is built on collaboration, listening, and ensuring that the decisions we make truly reflect the needs of our members.

My goal is not only to lead, but to encourage engagement and connection among our members. When dental hygienists stay informed, involved, and united, our collective voice becomes stronger and more impactful. Together, we can continue shaping a profession that is respected, progressive, and responsive to the evolving needs of both practitioners and the public.

It would be an honour to continue serving and advocating on your behalf. I humbly ask for your support and your vote for Cerina Marshall as Director-at-Large.
