Meet the Candidates

Jennifer Fish

My name is Jennifer Fish, and I am a Registered Dental Hygienist in good standing with the BCCOHP. Prior to Dental Hygiene, I was a Certified Dental Assistant for 10 years, working in B.C. as well as in Alberta. I have experience in various specialty offices, including TMJ, sleep clinics, orthodontics, oral surgery, and general practice.

I graduated from the diploma program at Vancouver Community College, where I was co-class president. During my diploma program, I received the Edward Chesko scholarship for clinical excellence and the Golden Scaler award (nominated by faculty) for excellence in the program. In 2021, I completed my BDSc at UBC, and I am currently completing my Master of Health Studies (MHS) with a focus on education and health promotion at the University of Athabasca.

As a BCDHA Director, I will contribute valuable experience even at a young age. My ultimate desire is to advance the profession of Dental Hygiene, especially with the recent changes regarding the College amalgamations and the upcoming Canadian Dental Care Plan.

I want to be involved in and be a part of the change in the evolution of the Dental Hygiene profession. I have volunteered with the bylaw committee to review the processes of the BCDHA. I am very proud to be a Dental Hygienist and take great pride in my work in the community. I want to help and serve others to the best of my abilities, including my fellow Dental Hygienists. I hope you will consider me for this position on the board.

Nancy MacMillan

Hello Dental Hygienists of the Fraser Valley!

I live on the traditional lands of the Coast Salish peoples, particularly the Kwantlen, Katzie, Matsqui, and Semiahmoo First Nations.

I am seeking re-election as a Board Director of the Fraser Valley for the BCDHA.

I am a proud Vancouver Community College graduate from the class of 1998 with a diploma in Dental Hygiene.

Throughout my career, I have worked in private dental offices and for Fraser Health’s Public Health Dental Program. My work experience, especially within Public Health, has given me unique insight into our profession. I have witnessed firsthand how our profession can be part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team, one in which I have felt a sense of pride for my contributions that assisted other healthcare professionals. It is this experience of collaboration, corroboration, and a sense of equity amongst peers that gave me the desire to join the Board of Directors of the BCDHA.

During my first term on the Board of Directors, I contributed by offering leadership, mentorship, and support by stepping up to the role of Vice-Chair. What began as a QAP committee member in 2021 to shed light on our current QAP issues has become a leadership role within the Board of the BCDHA.

Re-electing me would help us continue the crucial work we have started. This includes facilitating the transition of our new Executive Director, bolstering our Board of Directors, and driving our advocacy efforts forward. My commitment is to represent your interests and amplify our collective voice, especially now that we have an amalgamated Oral Health College (BCCOHP).

Your vote is vital for continuing this important work. I humbly ask for your support in this election.

Thank you.
