Join us for an engaging and practical course designed for dental hygienists eager to elevate their periodontal treatment practices through hands-on experience. This interactive workshop focuses on advanced in-office minimally invasive therapies, strongly emphasizing biofilm management using erythritol air polishing.

Participants will receive guided hands-on training using the Oral Science Woodpecker air polishing unit, gaining confidence and competence in modern techniques for biofilm removal.

This 5-hour session blends 50% lecture with 50% hands-on simulation and includes a lunch break. You’ll leave with the tools to enhance clinical outcomes and strategies to improve patient education and compliance.

Hands-On Simulations:

a) Conduct an immunological saliva screening test using PerioMonitor.

c) Simulate subgingival application of Hybenx desiccation technology for complete biofilm removal

Speakers

Angel Kaushal BSc, MPH, RDH
(she/her/hers)

Angel is a registered dental hygienist who has worked clinically for the last nine years. She is a Kootenay girl at heart, growing up in Cranbrook, BC, but she calls Kelowna, BC her home. She has a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from the University of Calgary, where she gained a love of research and sustainability. She has travelled as a dental hygienist for mission trips in Nepal and Guatemala. These trips instilled a passion for education and preventative healthcare, which led to her Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Edinburgh. She has spent ten years volunteering with JCI in many aspects and held various board positions. In 2017 she was awarded the national effective speaking title and went on to represent Canada in an international speaking competition. In her free time, she loves to read, to cook, and to travel.

Martha Szczepulski, BDSc(DH), DHP, PID
Dental Hygienist and Professional Educator

Martha is a passionate dental hygienist who has also established herself as a distinguished educator and speaker in the field. Working as a dental hygienist since 2005, her professional journey has been enriched by her experiences in general and community dental practices, dental hygiene education, and mobile dental hygiene in long-term care settings.

Currently, she holds the position of Professional Education Leader at Oral Science. Martha’s approach focuses on analyzing the data to uncover the most relevant, actionable insights for dental clinicians. Her vision is to bridge the gap between evidence-based practice and practical common sense, aiming to provide straightforward and actionable solutions.

Martha lives in Vancouver, BC and enjoys staying active at the gym, cycling scenic routes, or skiing the local cross-country trails.
