Jennifer Fish
BCDHA Board of Director Elections (Director-at-Large)
Hello, my name is Jennifer Fish, I am a third generation settler and I would like to Acknowledge that I have the privilege of calling home the territory of Katzie First nations, otherwise known as Maple Ridge in British Columbia. I practice dentistry on the land of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem First Nation) peoples. I am honoured to be considered as a Director of the Board. For the majority of my career I have lived and worked here.
I believe I would be a great Director of the Board for many reasons. One of them being that I have been in the industry for over 5 years as both a certified dental assistant and as a registered dental hygienist. I have worked in a wide range of dental practices over the years including general practice, TMJ, orthodontics, Oral surgery and sleep clinics.
I have my Diploma from Vancouver community college, and my baccalaureate from UBC (BScDH). Currently, I’m finishing a Masters in Health Studies (MHS) from the University of Athabasca. My focus is education, leadership and health promotion.
I have been involved in a volunteer position before with the BCDHA during the bylaw revision. I am very interested in deepening my involvement with the decisions being made for our future. I would like to continue to volunteer in a greater capacity to help with expanding our skills, and refining our continuing education.
As a board member I would bring these skills and experiences to give a voice to our area to further the dental hygiene profession. Our voice is more important than ever as an association since the amalgamation of our college.
I hope you will consider me for a Director of the Board.
